More About the Lincoln Trojan Band

Director of Bands - Hannah Haugen
Message from Ms. Haugen
Here at the Lincoln Trojan Band program, I strive to create two things out of every student: well-adjusted members of society and educated consumers of music. To simplify, that means all students will become two things once they leave after four years: great people, and great musicians. These goals are attainable by every student and are intertwined so that the student can accomplish one goal by working on the other.
As a music educator, I whole-heartedly believe that my job is not to produce only music majors, just as the football program’s job is not to produce only NCAA-bound athletes. Rather, our goal as educators is to produce well-functioning adults and members of society, so that they may be equipped to handle whatever profession they decide to devote their lives to after high school. Through band, and through the two points in the first paragraph, your child will see large amounts of growth and progress towards this ultimate goal.
About Ms. Haugen
Hannah Haugen is currently the Director of Bands at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Florida. She previously served as the Director of Bands at Auburndale High School (2015-2020) and Assistant Band Director at Bartow High School (2014-2015). Ms. Haugen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Southeastern University and her Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University.
Under her leadership at Auburndale High School, the band program more than tripled in size. Her students consistently earned straight superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association’s (FBA) district Marching Performance Assessments and concert band Music Performance Assessments. In 2016, the band was selected to perform in two clinics at the Florida Music Education Association Professional Development Conference in Tampa. The following year, the Auburndale High School Wind Ensemble also earned superior ratings at the FBA State Music Performance Assessment for the first time in 17 years. Numerous students from Ms. Haugen’s bands have been involved in FBA Solo and Ensemble events, all-county bands, and the Florida All-State Bands.
Ms. Haugen is an active member of the Florida Music Education Association, National Association for Music Education, and the Florida Bandmasters Association. She has been nominated to be an FBA adjudicator and looks forward to serving her organization.
